I'm just a kid from El Paso. Sure, I have a chunk of sentient alien technology welded to my spine that lets me become the Blue Beetle. But there's a lot more to life than that.

(Jaime is the third hero to take the name ‘The Blue Beetle’. He’s a teenager, bonded to a piece of alien technology that gives him the ability to create a carapace that can do …well, a lot. (At one point, facing the Spected - one of the most powerful characters in the DC Universe – he says that it just ‘kept giving more and more WMD options’.) He’s got a good heart, and a strong sense of right and wrong. (He tried to save an alien who was about to glass the Earth, despite all of the things that alien had done to him and his family.) The Beetle – designation ‘Khaji Da’ – is sentient in its own right, and considers Jaime its ‘friend’. He’s very strongly attached to his family and friends. He’s also done something a lot of teenaged heroes DON’T do – learned a lot about how to beat an enemy. The Green Lantern named Guy Gardner, a friend of the previous Blue Beetle, gave Jaime books on tactics and strategy, which he took to heart. He may not be a genius, but he’s smart enough to know how to compensate for it.

Jaime is about 16, slender, with black hair and brown eyes, and dresses casually but neatly.

The Blue Beetle armor/carapace is blue and black, with a facemask that resembles a luchador’s mask (deliberately designed so by the creators of the character).

When the scarab, Khaji Da, speaks to him, it'll look like this.
